Lieto Voices

Dr. Nancy Allred-Wright

Artistic Director

Dr. Nancy Allred, Lieto Voices' Artistic Director, is professor of music and director of piano studies at Utah Tech University. She is also the associate dean for the College of the Arts. She has developed Utah Tech’s outstanding piano program and mentors a wonderful studio of piano majors. Dr. Allred holds advanced degrees from Brigham Young University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City, studying piano with Paul Pollei, Robert Smith, and renowned professor Joanne Baker. An accomplished soloist and chamber musician, Dr. Allred is a distinguished collaborator of vocal, choral, and instrumental music. She has collaborated with Ronald Staheli, Craig Jessop, Eph Ehly, Ariel Bybee, Robert Breault, George Dyer, Jordan Bluth, and Jenny Oaks Baker. For sixteen years Dr. Allred was accompanist and director of Southern Utah Heritage Choir, with whom she performed throughout Europe, the British Isles, China, and the United States. Previously, she was the accompanist for the BYU Singers and collaborated with the Southwest Symphonic Chorale for many years. Dr. Allred loves teaching and is frequently asked to give workshops and presentations at music educator conferences, sharing her knowledge and expertise with other music teachers. She was recently honored by the Music Teachers National Association as a Foundation Fellow during the 2022 MTNA National Conference.

Kris Barber

Assitant Director

Kris Barber is a lifelong music educator. She enjoyed a 24-year career in vocal music, teaching grades six through high school. In the 2014-2015 school year, she was awarded “Outstanding Junior High Music Educator” by the Utah Music Educators Association. Retiring from the public school system in 2017, she opened the Kris Barber Piano Studio. She has served for six years on the staff of Vista at Entrada School of Performing Arts as a vocal consultant and coach. A great fan of musical theater, Kris works frequently as music director for St. George Musical Theater. She joined Lieto Voices in the fall of 2004 and became the associate director in 2005, serving under three directors. She has very much enjoyed her long association with Lieto Voices as the choir has grown and developed over the past twenty years.
